Jobjects to analyze Checkpoint objects database

 

Parser for  Checkpoint objects database
Telecom and Logistics Associates is proud to announce its new software Jobjects. With this product you will get a conventional database view of the Checkpoint object database. Jobjects parses the content of the Checkpoint object database and places the result in a database like MySQL, Microsoft SQL server, Oracle, Informix, etc. From then on easy access to data can be done with conventional database tools and SQL requests. That information can be used as a central network database. 

Facing the difficult task of understanding how a firewall or a set of firewalls are structured and configured, or simply to have a better overview of the configuration components. Jobjects parses the entire Checkpoint object database and extracts lists of information like hosts, networks, groups of hosts, groups of networks, groups of firewalls. With this, it is easier to locate an object, or compare different groups.

This software is meant for firewall and security administrators in need of a better understanding of their environment or that want to automate some tasks. Consulting and integrator companies can improve the service they offer to their customers by using Jobjects at  their facilities.

This approach is useful for third party companies in need of a quick understanding of network protections by viewing lists of  components and  understanding their relations.

Information in database can be kept up to date with a single automation step.

Jobjects works in Windows 2000/2003, Linux, Solaris environments

Jobjects is a module that can work alone or in the FLA software suite. 

Jobjects Architecture

This software works in 3 tiers architecture and does not need to be placed on the firewall.. The database can also be placed on different host. In that sense the system can be split over three systems

  • Management system (SmartCenter or Management Console)
  • Computation system running Jobjects
  • Database server

Several architectures are possible from the most concentrated to the more distributed

All elements are located on the Management system

  • Computation and Database engine are on the same system while Management system is separated
  • The three elements are separated 
  • Jobjects and database are located on a laptop, this allows an offline work, or even a "Take away" work.

Jobjects pour analyser les firewall Checkpoint

Jobjects est un logiciel de Telecom and Logistics Associates qui permet d'extraire les information de la base de données des objets des systèmes de firewall Checkpoint. Cet outil permet le transfert des informations entre la base de données de Checkpoint et une base de données conventionnelle comme MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Informix, etc.

Cette base de données sert ensuite de base de données centrales contenant les informations réseaux pertinentes à ses administrateurs et responsable de sécurité. L'accès à la base de données peut dse faire ensuite avec des outils d'extraction standard.

Jobjects permet d'extraire différents type de données comme des listes de host, la constitution des groupes d'object, la liste des réseaux avec leurs adresses IP et leurs masques.

Les données peuvent aussi être extraite dans un format adapté pour les DNS ou pour les fichiers /etc/hosts.

L'ensemble de ces fonctions sont modulaires et permettent d'automatiser les extraction de données ainsi que la mise à jour de leur contenu.

Jobjects est destiné aux administrateurs de firewalls et VPN ainsi qu'au responsable de sécurité.
