English version
While many users are happy to know about ISA, security professionals are quick to point out that any new product will contain bugs. Given Microsoft's track record for security problems in its other products, experts predict that ISA will contain its share of bugs and warn administrators that they should be leary of trying to protect their network with two relatively unproven technologies.

Microsoft ISA Server contrasts with the company's Routing and Remote Access (RRAS) server in that ISA allows for dynamic packet filtering where any required ports are opened and closed based on client requests. ISA supports SOCKS 4.3, data caching, load balancing, as well as numerous protocols. ISA Server requires the use of Windows 2000 Server and is tightly integrated with the operating system's Active Directory, virtual private networking (VPN) technology, and bandwidth controls. In addition, Microsoft licensed ISA's integrated intrusion protection from Internet Security Systems (ISS), makers of RealSecure.

According to Microsoft, more than 70 companies have developed or are considering development of enhancment products compatible with ISA Server.
