Check Point Launches Z100G, Secure Home Wi-router

12.11.2006

Check Point ZoneAlarm Secure Wireless Router Z100G will be sold as a standalone appliance, or bundled with five copies of the award-winning ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite software.

Check Point Software Technologies launched the ZoneAlarm Secure Wireless Router Z100G, a groundbreaking advance in home router security technology. The wireless router provides a 7-layer security approach.

Check Point developed the new Z100G with subsidiary SofaWare Technologies, delivering a wireless router that goes a long way to provide security to users, from inspection firewall, antivirus, VPN remote access, wireless encryption, and secure remote desktop access, to parental controls.

Check Point's consumer and small business division GM, Laura Yecies: "Typical home wireless routers only include the most rudimentary security features, giving consumers a false sense of invincibility. Hackers exploit these weaknesses to break into a user's home network to steal personal information or to hijack the Internet access to distribute spam, pornography or commit other Internet crimes. Now, consumers can take advantage of essentially the same security technologies used to protect the Fortune 500 while experiencing all the conveniences of a powerful wireless home network."

"By combining desktop software like the ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite with a secure gateway, consumers have several layers of defense. This ensures that hackers are thwarted regardless of the type of attack, such as spyware, rootkits, viruses and more."

ZoneAlarm Secure Wireless Router provides Check Point's patented Stateful Inspection technology, SmartDefense technology,

VStream Gateway Antivirus, and a secure remote access to the home using IPSEC VPN (Virtual Private Network). It also has WPA2 (802.11i) encryption support and parental settings keeping family members safe from inappropriate content.

The Z100G wireless network speeds go up to 108 Mbps, while on the other end hand is able to use the extended range (XR) technology to cover upto 300m (984 ft) indoors and 1km (3280ft) outdoors. Internet Access Protocols include Static IP, DHCP, PPPoE, PPTP, and Telstra.

Availability is expected in late November, while the list price for the standalone appliance will be $199.95. A special promotional rate of $149.95 will be available through December 31, 2006.
